LMI SMART+GAGE SOFTWARE

LMI Smart+Gage Software

Smart+gage software is designed with integration requirements in mind. Written for Windows XP®, this proprietary application provides a straight-ahead method for initial setup. After user-defined limits are set, true dimensional tolerances are used to pass/fail product. This detailed dimensional information (x.y.z - and the measured relation of one feature or data point to another) can then populate a full SPC report.

LMI FINAL INSPECTION STATION

LMI 3D Automotive Final Inspection Station

Data Rich Smart+gage software uses the powerful core of the LMI SmartLine software package. All typical SPC reports are available for full trending, monitoring and performance verification. All standard measurement algorithms are included. Set Hard and Soft Limits with alarm and alert features. Full data retention and export is offered. The accuracies of dimensional laser gaging is now available for true quality error proofing applications.

AUTOMOTIVE

Automotive

USS integrates LMI Technologies, specializing in 3D sensors that produce fast throughput and high resolution inspection data to meet production and quality requirements for the automotive industry. Packaged in a rugged industrial housing, LMI sensors are ideal for mounting in the assembly weld tools, in close proximity to weld guns. When sensors are mounted in the assembly line, they can operate in a continuous data-gathering mode to obtain data of actual part movements during the process. Since data acquisition is done automatically, results may be displayed in real time.

METALS

Metals

Improve your production speeds, control flow processes, and measure the results of the forming processes for thickness, width and / or diameter. Image a small defect in an aluminum billet that is several meters thick being rolled into aluminium foil for cans where the small defect is magnified into a huge hole or other irregularity. USS has been integrating LMI measuring systems into the metals business for many years. LMI products measure the casting levels of red hot casting for level control and molten aluminum for billet casting controls. These sensors are being used by world class suppliers of casting equipment.

RUBBER AND TIRE

Rubber and Tire

USS-integrated LMI 3D sensors can be found throughout rubber and tire factories, used for both in-process and final inspection applications. A unique environment requires unique solutions. With inconsistent surface properties ranging from lubricants to slopes and varying patterning, our sensors are equipped with extremely fast closed loop laser/LED intensity and camera exposure controls. This ensures maximum visibility throughout the entire production process.

TRANSPORTATION

Transportation

Including inspection of pavement for highways and runways and profiling of the surface to determine ride quality and texture. Pavement is inspected during build to ensure quality, and to monitor wear to determine short-term maintenance and repair priorities, to calculate the efficiency of maintenance policies. Transportation applications place extreme demands sensors. Robust sensor operation is key, operating in the outdoor environment, where sensors are exposed to sunlight, large temperature variations, shock, and vibration. Surfaces inspected vary from black asphalt to bright new concrete.

WOOD APPLICATIONS

Wood

LMI's chroma+scan sensors integrate high-speed and-high density 3D scanning for log and board optimization. They're designed to produce highly accurate and reliable data. Mill operations need the value associated with integrated sensor technology, and these sensors collect large amounts of profile data to generate a thorough model of the log, resulting in better cutting decisions. If you're seeking color vision information, LMI also has industry-proven sensors with integrated high density 3D profiles, color vision, and light-curtain functionality.

MULTI-POINT TRIANGULATION

MULTI-POINT TRIANGULATION

Point triangulation provides an elegant solution for applications requiring measurement at a single point on a surface, or along a single line on a part moving on a conveyor. More complex applications requiring profile measurements on 3D surfaces need measurement data from multiple points across the surface to monitor a complete surface profile.

LINE TRIANGULATION

LINE TRIANGULATION

Laser line triangulation provides surface profile data on the surface in a single image. 3D profiling along a laser line uses the same proven triangulation principle as described for single point triangulation. The major difference is that the laser beam is optically expanded in one dimension to create a line of laser light on the surface to be measured. The detector used is a 2D digital array imager (camera). The output of the imager is analyzed electronically, with many points along the line calculated in the triangulation equations.

MULTI-LINE TRIANGULATION

MULTI-LINE TRIANGULATION

Where high density, high speed surface contour information is required, or the object to be measured has no or limited movement, 3D profile scanning can be accomplished by projecting multiple laser lines onto the surface. Much the same as single laser point triangulation can be expanded into multiple laser points, multiple laser lines can be projected to be measured by a single detector. This results in a more efficient system that is more cost effective that a group of "single laser, single camera" systems.
